Theatre Arts and Speech Communications Faculty


Full-Time Position

SUNY Sullivan invites applications for a full-time, entry-level, tenure-track position in theatre and speech. Reporting to the Chair of the Division of Liberal Arts and Humanities, the successful candidate will execute the duties of the Performing Arts Director and of a faculty member with a teaching load in theatre and speech (public speaking, interpersonal and intercultural communication). The Performing Arts Director organizes and produces on-campus theatre productions and related events during the academic year and acts as a liaison to local theatre groups in the region. This position requires a flexible schedule, which includes evening and weekend hours to facilitate programming. Events and programs are designed to showcase student and local talent and offer wide appeal to the student body, faculty and community. The Performing Arts Director supervises all aspects of each production, although production choices are vetted by the Chair of Liberal Arts and Humanities and the Administration.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Practical experience in play production, including a wide range of plays and musical theatre
  • At least two years experience teaching appropriate college-level courses in all aspects of theatre and speech
  • MFA with a concentration in drama/theatre arts/performance

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Experience directing plays, particularly at the college level
  • Demonstrated teaching excellence and student-centered practices in the classroom
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse population of students.
  • Experience with community college students
  • Ability to spearhead the college's general education assessment of oral communication
  • Additional Master's or Ph.D. in communication studies, speech, or humanities

Director of Library Services


Full-Time Position

The Director of Library Services is responsible for the operation and facilities of the Library and for certain instructional services as assigned. The Director is responsible for planning and directing all aspects of library services, with particular emphasis upon a dynamic information literacy program and the integration of up-to-date information technologies.

The Director supervises the librarians and other specialists to ensure the efficient operation of the facilities. The Director of Library Services reports to the Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs. This position is classified as Non-teaching Faculty and the incumbent is a member of the Professional Staff Association.

QUALIFICATIONS

FT Nursing Faculty


Full-Time Position

SUNY Sullivan is seeking to fill two full-time of Nursing Faculty positions.

This full-time, tenure-track position in the Health Sciences Division begins late August 2014. The successful candidate will be able to assume responsibilities that include classroom and clinical teaching in all areas of Nursing. Faculty members are expected to participate in curriculum development and review and serve on college-wide committees. Summer teaching, overload and advising are separately compensated.

Nursing department faculty members participate in the development of the academic program of the college and shall be responsible for delivering the college's instruction to students. The major objective of the position of instructor in the department of nursing is to develop the student professionally, ethically and cognitively. Nursing faculty facilitate learning and learner development and socialization.

Faculty members work within the terms of the contract between the Legislature of the County of Sullivan and the Faculty Association of SUNY Sullivan.


QUALIFICATIONS

Master's degree in Nursing (required) with clinical experience and a current New York State license as a Registered Nurse. Previous experience in curriculum development, clinical and classroom teaching is preferred. Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate a commitment to the community college philosophy and are willing to work in a collegial setting.

Coordinator of Integrated Marketing and Web Developer


Full-Time Position

The Coordinator of Integrated Marketing and Web Developer is responsible for integrated marketing campaigns and maintains the college's web presence. This position supports the college's overall strategic recruitment and retention goals and branding efforts, including but not limited to the SUNY Sullivan website, social media, digital media, mobile including apps and texting, video, photo and print marketing materials and press releases. This position has a particular emphasis on the design and graphics, development, editorial content, organization, navigation, maintenance and tracking of the college's website as an effective integrated marketing communications and information tool, and will serve as the lead on the college's website redesign and launch, scheduled for November, 2014.


QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in website design, computer technology, OR a bachelor's degree in marketing, journalism, or English/Communication with a minimum of 5 years professional web-development/programming experience
  • Minimum of three year's demonstrated experience in website design, programming and management, e.g., web design, graphic arts software, database creation and management, HTML, CSS, PHP, MySQL.
  • Demonstrated excellence in technical and marketing-related writing.Excellent organization, design, communication and interpersonal skills required.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Knowledge of and experience in marketing.
  • A collegial communication style that invites participation when appropriate with academic departments, in particular.

Maintenance Worker


Full-Time Position

The College is seeking a full-time Maintenance Worker to perform a variety of semi-skilled tasks involved in the maintenance and repair of the College's facilities. This is a Civil Service, non-competitive, Labor Class position; with a starting salary of $34,665.

Assistant Director of Public Safety

SUNY Sullivan is seeking candidates for the position of Assistant Director of Public Safety. Recently retired law enforcement officers are encouraged to apply.

The Assistant Director of Public Safety will serve as the Evening/Night Supervisor providing a safe environment for faculty, staff and students. This position, which is designated as a Peace Officer, in accordance with Criminal Procedure Law 2.10(76), provides administrative, supervisory and hands-on responsibility for safety and security. The hiring range for this position is $43,000 to $47,500.

Reporting to the Director of Public Safety, the Assistant Director of Public Safety is charged with providing a safe environment for faculty and support staff to work and students to learn and serves not only Sullivan County Community College but also the Faculty-Student Association of Sullivan County Community College, the Sullivan County Community College Foundation and the Sullivan County Community College Dormitory Corporation.

The designation of Peace Officer will be administered by the College's Board of Trustees after appointment to this position.

  • Incumbent will serve as the Evening/Night Supervisor to assist the Director of Public Safety to oversee the work activities, train, and monitor and evaluate the performance of contracted security service employees who work in evening and night shifts.
  • Assist the Director of Public Safety in implementing and managing services and reporting requirements for programs, which support and respond to the safety and security needs of the campus community.
  • Coordinate and administer necessary and appropriate contacts with local law enforcement, fire, EMS, hazardous materials and medical safety agencies during the evening and night shifts.
  • Assist the Director of Public Safety to prepare and update plans for response to and recovery from emergency and disaster conditions as pertaining to assigned building(s); lead and participate in implementation of emergency plans in appropriate situations such as:
  • Institutional Response to Major Disruptions or
  • CrisisNotification of Appropriate College Officials
  • Emergency Response to Hazardous Materials Spills
  • Demonstrations and Disorders
  • Man Made and Natural Catastrophes
  • Fire and Bomb Threats
  • Evacuation of Constituents

  • Must possess advanced report writing and computer skills, utilizing Microsoft Office; as well as possess proficient and effective communication skills.
  • Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned by the Director of Public Safety as may apply to the safety and security needs of Sullivan County Community College.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree with at least 3 years experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified; or
  • Graduation from a municipal police academy and 8 or more years serving in positions requiring progressively higher levels of responsibility that would relate to the duties and responsibilities specified in this job description.

Special Requirements:

In addition to meeting the above qualifications, this position requires candidates to meet established medical and physical requirements, successfully complete the approved Municipal Police Training Council Training Program for Community College Peace Officers, be legally able to possess a firearm in the State of New York, and possess a valid New York State driver's license. Candidates may also be required to successfully complete a required Psychological Examination, and undergo substance abuse testing.

Adjunct Respiratory Care Clinical Instructors


Part-Time Position

The Clinical Instructor has responsibility for coordinating student rotations or site visits and for helping students understand their duties in different settings. The instructor must possess thorough knowledge of patient medications, treatments and diagnoses and be able to relate these aspects of patient care to problem solving /critical thinking skill development in the student. Clinical Instructors supervise the students they instruct during site visits and rotations, providing guidance as the students work with staff. Clinical hours are scheduled from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., on Monday through Thursday during the academic year.


QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must hold Associate's Degree in Respiratory Therapy (minimum).
  • Credential as a registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT).
  • Maintain an unencumbered Respiratory Therapy license in the State of N.Y.
  • Provide evidence of current CPR training, independent malpractice insurance and membership to the American Association of Respiratory Care (AARC).
