Faculty - Culinary and Pastry Arts


Full-Time Position

RESPONSIBILITIESPOSTED: March 30, 2015

SUNY Sullivan is seeking full-time Farm-to-Table Chef/Culinary Arts Instructor for a tenure-track appointment beginning fall 2015. Applicants should have knowledge of the whole food lifecycle from farm to table, sustainable food production systems, value-added food production, safe and sanitary commercial kitchen procedures, and experience in both Culinary and Pastry Arts.

The ideal candidate will be a culinary expert committed to both the art of cooking and innovative teaching grounded in sustainable food practices. Her/his insights on integrating locally grown and produced food into private, institutional, and professional menus so as to offer creative, nutritious and healthful eating options will inspire students and the community to make thoughtful connections between farm production, food processing, artisanal products and cuisine.

The successful candidate will provide high-quality instruction in all levels of courses within the Professional Chef AAS, Culinary Arts AOS and Pastry Arts AOS programs, and will also be responsible for teaching many of the culinary components of a proposed new Nourishment Arts AOS program.

Salary will vary dependent upon rank. The minimum hiring range for this position is $34,372 to $41,693.


QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A minimum of five years of culinary industry experience and a culinary-arts related Associate's degree
  • Previous experience in a teaching/training environment
  • Familiarity with local and seasonal sourcing practices and Farm-to-Table cuisine

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with a Farm-to-Table concentration

Administrative Associate to the Dean of Student Development Services


Full-Time Position

RESPONSIBILITIESPOSTED: March 26, 2015

The Administrative Associate to the Dean of Student Development Services provides office management, administrative services and support to the Student Development Services unit. She/he works in a strictly confidential relationship with senior management. S/he will also provide assistance to college officials who manage the compliance requirements related to Federal regulations.

This position reports to the Dean of Student Development Services. It is classified as a Management Confidential.

For full consideration we encourage candidates to respond prior to the review start date of April 20, 2015. The hiring range is set at a maximum of $42,982.

OFFICE MANAGEMENT

  • Acts as liaison with administrative and academic officers at the college, as well as faculty, staff, students and community members.
  • Coordinates telephone and mail inquires.
  • Manages calendar and schedules meetings, engagements and coordinates travel arrangements.
  • Coordinates activities by acting as liaison with unit staff, answering questions, exchanging information, providing assistance and advice, and clarifying policies and procedures.

ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES

  • Prepares sophisticated computations through the design of reports, databases and charts to summarize statistical data for the college.
  • Prepares confidential correspondence, letters, memoranda, reports, and other materials for the Dean of Student Development Services.

COMPLIANCE COORDINATION

  • Works with college administrators and staff responsible for compliance programs to:
  • Stays up-to-date with current regulations, and assist to inform staff of changes to relevant rules and guidelines set by governments and other regulatory bodies. Examples of such laws and regulations include: Title IX, Violence Against Women Act of 2013, Titles VI and VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Discrimination Act of 1975, the Higher Education Opportunity Act (HEOA), and the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
  • Maintain, and revise policies and procedures for the general operation of the Compliance Program and its related activities to prevent illegal, unethical, or improper conduct.
  • Monitors implementation and periodically reviews compliance related practices to ensure continuing currency and relevance in providing guidance to management and employees.
  • Maintains all records required to certify compliance.

DEVELOPMENT OF THE OFFICE OF STUDENT DEVELOPMENT SERVICES

  • Participates in developing unit goals, objectives, and systems.
  • Assists in preparing and administering the annual budget.
  • Reviews and recommends work methods and procedures to improve unit efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Participates in administrative staff meetings and attends other meetings and seminars as necessary and to represent the unit, as requested.
  • Maintains and updates unit information on the Jenazbar system.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's Degree in business or office management or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A minimum of three years of clerical/administrative experience in office management, business management, project management or related field working for a senior administrative officer
  • Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to interact well with people at all levels, skilled in conflict resolution.
  • Proficiency in various software packages including Microsoft Office (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google mail, Dropbox, Internet search, and Jenzabar EX.
  • Ability to manage complex projects.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bilingual, a plus.
  • Experience in an educational setting is preferred.

INSTRUCTIONAL ASSISTANT - SCIENCE LAB


Full-Time Position

RESPONSIBILITIESPOSTED: March 26, 2015

SUNY Sullivan is seeking to fill the position of Instructional Assistant - Science Lab for a Fall 2015 appointment. The Instructional Assistant assists the Instructional Faculty by implementing the Educational program of the faculty. This will require that the IA maintain a positive and cooperative attitude in the implementation of the program to insure the maximum effectiveness of the laboratory. Some evening hours are required.

  • Responsible for prepping, setting up, teaching, breaking down, and cleaning up all the Introduction to Biology I Lab and Introduction to Biology II Lab sections.
  • Responsible for all student lab records including attendance.
  • Responsible for administrating and grading laboratory assessments.
  • Responsible for creating course outlines for all SCI 1051 and SCI 2051 sections.
  • Responsible for determining lab grades for all students and submitting them to corresponding lecture instructors for midterm and final grades.
  • Expected to prepare for each lab and have a thorough knowledge of concepts included in each lab. Background and supplementary reading should be done on each topic, so that assistance to students will be available as needed. This is a primary responsibility.

The hiring range for this position is $34,372 to $41,693.

Nursing Adjunct


Part-Time Position

SUNY Sullivan is seeking candidates to fill an adjunct position in Nursing for a Spring 2015 appointment. Adjunct nursing faculty assist full-time faculty in providing clinical and laboratory instruction under the general direction of the lead instructor to which he or she is assigned. All nursing faculty are expected to encourage students to think critically and analyze information as well as model professional ethical behavior which inspires achievement and leadership.

The successful candidate will:

Assist in the development, implementation and evaluation of the Nursing Program.
Ensure the incorporation of theory into student clinical experiences.
Work with peers to identify and select clinical experiences for students on a weekly basis.
Assist in evaluating, recording and reporting student progress.


QUALIFICATIONS

Master's degree in nursing (strongly preferred) or a Bachelor's degree in nursing and matriculated in a graduate nursing program.
New York State Licensure or eligibility.
Experience working as a Professional Nurse.
Experience in Associate Degree Nursing education preferred.
Excellent interpersonal skills as necessary for working with diverse groups of people with varying backgrounds.

The multi-disciplinary Division of Social Sciences and Sustainability Studies at SUNY Sullivan is now accepting applications for up to three adjunct instructors in our Green Building Management and proposed Sustainability Studies degree programs. Successful candidates must have familiarity and expertise within a range of topics, which may include:


Position (1) - Control devices, signals, logic, and applications for various systems, such as electrical, lighting, HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, security, access control, voice-data-video, and elevator systems;


Position (2) - Reading commercial building plans and specifications, computing electrical loads, branch circuits and components, and electronic service equipment. Electrical considerations specific to renewable energy systems;


Position (3) - Ecological design, energy efficiency, passive and renewable energy, water conservation and treatment, sustainable site selection, green building materials, indoor and outdoor environmental quality, and building assessment tools.


QUALIFICATIONS

Master's degree in Sustainability, Green Technology or Renewable Energy or career/professional equivalent.
