Credo Reference. Search over 3 million full-text entries in 515 reference books. Credo Reference has an image search feature and it also links out to content in other library databases. Try this database for a good overview of a topic to start your research.
Gale Virtual Reference Library (Thomson Gale). A full-text collection of reference resources on a wide variety of topics. Provided via SUNYConnect and SENYLRC.
Grolier Online. Search the Encyclopedia Americana, the Grolier Multimedia Encyclopedia, the New Book of Knowledge and other research sources. Provided by NOVEL.
HRVH Historical Newspapers. An ongoing digitization project of the Hudson River Valley Heritage service, sponsored by the Southeastern New York Library Resources Council, that provides access to content of early Hudson Valley newspapers.
LexisNexis Academic . A reference service that lets you search the news, from 1980 to today, look for U.S. and state legal cases, get company information, research countries of the world, and also find biographical information on public figures. All full-text sources with an "easy search" or "power search" interface.
OED Online. The online version of the Oxford English Dictionary, the pre-eminent dictionary of the English language on historical principles. You can trace the origin and usage of every word in the English language.

Statistical Sources
Fedstats: One-Stop Shopping Federal Statistics. This is a subject index that leads to statistical data from more than 70 government agencies grouped by agency, program and regional statistics.
Bureau of Labor Statistics. A full range of economic data with analysis. Includes employment statistics, price and living conditions, compensation, productivity and other measures.
County Business Patterns. Measures of economic activity at local levels. Based on U.S. Census records.
Bureau of Justice Statistics. Includes an overview of statistics on crime and reports on subjects from capital punishment to prison population. Comprehensively put together by the Bureau of Justice Statistics.
Kids Count. Statistics from each state about the welfare of children in the U.S. Comparisons, profiles, charts, ranks and maps included.
National Center for Education Statistics. Presents data on education at all levels. Published by the Institute of Education Sciences, U.S. Dept. of Education.
National Center for Health Statistics. Statistics on all aspects of health in the U.S. presented by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
