SUNY Sullivan’s Men’s Basketball Team Hosting Golf Tournament

LOCH SHELDRAKE, NY (Aug 26, 2010) – Nine irons, drivers and putters aren’t the stock-in-trade of a basketball player, but they will definitely come in handy for participants in the inaugural SUNY Sullivan Men’s Basketball Golf Tournament, Saturday, Sept. 25, at Swan Lake Country Club.

Money raised from the tournament will be used to help defray costs for an upcoming out-of-state basketball tournament.

“The SUNY Sullivan Generals have been invited to participate in the prestigious K&T Steel Tournament at Southern Idaho College,” said Kevin DeVantier, head men’s basketball coach. “Although the host will cover some of the team’s expenses, we still need to raise $2500 to pay for airline tickets and meals. I believe our first golf tournament will help us raise the money we need to showcase our talent in this invitational tournament.”

The golf tournament is a “Captain and Crew Scramble” format with a noon shotgun start. The $75 per person fee includes 18 holes of golf with cart, lunch, prizes and refreshments on the course.

For more information and to register, call Coach DeVantier at 845.434.5750, ext. 4426 or Gregg Semenetz, coordinator of athletic operations, at ext. 4293.
