LOCH SHELDRAKE, NY (Feb. 9, 2011) – The Paul Gerry Fieldhouse at SUNY Sullivan was rocking off the foundation Tuesday night (Feb. 8) and for good reason. With a 94-84 victory over SUNY Rockland the Sullivan Generals clinched its second consecutive Mid-Hudson Conference regular season Championship. That makes seven conference championship wins in the last 10 years. The Generals ended the 2010-2011 regular season 18-4 overall and 9-0 in the Mid-Hudson Conference.
“With a talented squad and great coaching from head coach Kevin DeVantier and assistant coach Gregg Semenetz, we knew we were going to have a good season,” Chris DePew, SUNY Sullivan’s Director of Athletics said. “But we ended up having a great season and we’re looking forward to post season play.”
In Conference play, the Generals will be the #1 seed in the upcoming Mid-Hudson Conference Tournament to be held at SUNY Orange on February 18 & 19. In Regional play, the Generals continue to hold onto first place with important games this week at Hostos CC and Kingsborough CC.
The Generals are planning on being one of the eight teams to compete in the NJCAA Division III National Championships. Weather won’t impact their travel plans because they won’t have to go very far to compete. The NJCAA National Championships will be played at home in the Paul Gerry Field House, March 10-12.
