SUNY Sullivan Generals to Host Boys & Girls Youth Basketball Camps

 

Loch Sheldrake, NY (June 9, 2011) – The SUNY Sullivan Generals are hosting their annual summer Boys and Girls Basketball Camp from July 18 through 22, 2011. Open to young athletes ages 7 to 17, the camp will feature exciting daily sessions from 9:00am until 3:00pm. Registration is open now for this event that always sends campers home with valuable basketball knowledge and memories of good times and warm friendships.

The SUNY Sullivan Generals Basketball Camp gives young athletes the fundamental skills and broad understanding of the sport to succeed and have fun playing basketball. Campers will improve their skills through individual instruction, drills, lectures and games. They will cover basics in daily sessions, including the fundamentals of passing, dribbling, and shooting. They’ll also learn individual and team offensive and defensive strategies!

All sessions are lead by members of the SUNY Sullivan Men’s & Women’s Basketball programs, as well as other notable area coaching professionals. At the close of camp, these professionals will give each camper a detailed evaluation of their progress, along with specific drills to further develop their game.

Campers may bring bag lunches, or they may purchase lunch at the General’s Store – located in the Paul Gerry Fieldhouse where the training sessions take place. An outdoor pool – also immediately adjacent to the fieldhouse and fenced in – will be open and available during camp. A lifeguard will be on duty, and campers are encouraged to come prepared with appropriate swimming attire and a towel.

Members of the SUNY Sullivan Athletics Department will head this year’s staff, including Athletics Director and former Head Coach Chris DePew, current Men’s Basketball Head Coach, Kevin DeVantier, and current Women’s Head Coach, Sara Thompson Tweedy. Come join them and other area athletics professionals for a great week on the same court that is the current home to the NJCAA DIII National Tournament!

The camp is $125.00 per camper ($100.00 each additional family member). Registration is open now, and space is limited. Register by June 24, 2011 to save $10.00 on your first camper’s fee.
