
LOCH SHELDRAKE, NY (July 20, 2011) – On Wednesday, July 27 at 6:30 pm, SUNY Sullivan will present an encore broadcast of Verdi’s Don Carlo performed by New York’s Metropolitan Opera. The broadcast – the finale of the 2011 Summer Encore Series – is open to the public, and will be shown on campus in the Seelig Theater. Tickets are $20.00 each for general admission, and $10.00 each for students.
“I think Don Carlo is the quintessential Verdi opera,” says Director Nicholas Hytner, who made his Met debut with this production of the composer’s epic drama of love and politics. Yannick Nézet-Séguin conducts Roberto Alagna in the title role, and Ferruccio Furlanetto, Marina Poplavskaya, Anna Smirnova, and Simon Keenlyside also star.
