
Loch Sheldrake, NY (September 1, 2011) – Make plans attend the FREE movie screening of the young farmer documentary "The Greenhorns," as well as a market of local farm items and advocacy groups at SUNY Sullivan. The event will take place in the Seelig Theater and its lobby on Thursday, September 22, from 2:30 pm until 6:30 pm, with on the following schedule:
2:30 pm: Local farmers will offer farm products for sale. Regional advocacy organizations will share local food resources.
4:30 pm: Screening of "The Greenhorns" inside the Seelig Theatre.
5:30 pm: Panel discussion featuring young local farmers and Patrick Kiley of The Greenhorns project. Moderated by Challey Comer from Pure Catskills. Taking part will be Sara & Brett Budde, Greg Swartz, Adrianne Picciano, Majestic Farms, Willow Wisp Organic Farm, The Dirt Diva.
The Greenhorns documentary film, completed after almost 3 years in production, explores the lives of America's young farming community – its spirit, practices, and needs. It is the filmmaker's hope that by broadcasting the stories and voices of these young farmers, we can build the case for those considering a career in agriculture - to embolden them, to entice them, and to recruit them into farming.
