School Violence Lecture at SUNY Sullivan

Loch Sheldrake (Sept 12, 2011) – Understanding the nature and causes of school violence provides us with some clues on how to recognize it before it happens and what we should do when it happens. Robert Eiler, professor of criminal justice at SUNY Sullivan will deliver a talk on school violence on Wednesday, October 18 at 5 pm in the Seelig Theatre. The presentation is free and the public is invited.

Eiler will use the violence that erupted at Columbine to discuss the background on the shooters and facts about the attack. He will also provide participants with an overview at the violence at Belsan (Russia) by discussing the terrorist group that attacked the school and the political ramifications that caused the attack. Eiler will also talk about how schools are a top target from active shooters to terrorist organizations.
