SUNY Sullivan Board of Trustees Recognizes Outgoing Board Member Ernst

Loch Sheldrake (Dec. 20, 2011) Nick Speranza, Chairman of the SUNY Sullivan Board of Trustees, paid tribute to outgoing board member, Robert "Bob" Ernst, at the college's December board meeting. Ernst had served as a member of the SUNY Sullivan Board of Trustees for 16 years.

Nick Speranza read a proclamation to Bob extolling his unselfish service to the college, not only as a board member, but also for his two decades as both a member and chair of the Sullivan County Community College Foundation. Bob helped the Foundation raise thousands of dollars in scholarship funds for the students who attend the College.

Bob also served as Co-Chair of the Start of Something Great Capital Campaign which raised $1 million toward the building of the Lazarus I. Levine Residence Hall.

Bob has spent fifty-four years of his life in banking with forty-five of those years here in Sullivan County. He served as president of the Sullivan County National Bank, and was also with FleetBank and the Community Bank of Sullivan County. He is presently with Jeff Bank.

Not only has Bob flourished in the Sullivan County banking industry but he is also associated with Hudson Valley Investment Advisors and has partnerships in several corporations that specialize in finance and real estate.

Over the years Bob has been an active community member, serving on various boards including: founding director and the first president of the Sullivan County Chamber of Commerce, founding director and president of the Independent Bankers Association of New York State, Sullivan
County Bankers Association, the Boy Scouts of America, and a trustee of Catskill Regional Medical Center and its Foundation.

The resolution ends with: Be it resolved that the members of the SUNY Sullivan Board of Trustees express their sincere appreciation to Mr. Robert Ernst for his years of dedicated and selfless service as a member of the board; and be it further resolved that Mr. Robert Ernst be awarded recognition of his distinguished service, and as an expression of gratitude for his exceptional dedication and commitment to further the goals of the college that Mr. Robert Ernst be granted the status of Trustee Emeritus and that he be accorded such recognition and honors as may be appropriate to persons holding this rank.

In thanking the Board for his special recognition, Bob promised that he would continue serving the college because he firmly believes in the goals and aspirations of SUNY Sullivan.
