
The SUNY Sullivan Athletics Department has built a winning reputation over the years. The college is proud of its teams' performances, and of its student athletes both in competition and in the classroom. This week, another SUNY Sullivan General was recognized for his outstanding achievements during the 2012 baseball season. Congratulations to Jossue Delgado.
Outfielder Jossue Delgado was named a NJCAA Division II Third Team All-American. The announcement makes Jossue the first SUNY Sullivan baseball player to be honored as an All-American.
Jossue gave SUNY Sullivan two terrific seasons. In 2012 he hit .357 with 14 doubles, 3 triples, and 8 homeruns, while also scoring 67 runs and driving in 42. He was 56-for-61 in stolen base attempts. Over his 88 games for the Generals, Jossue batted .367, hit 29 doubles, 7 triples and 8 homeruns, scored 103 runs and drove in 73. He swiped bags (83 total steals) at a success rate of 93%.
In his two seasons with SUNY Sullivan, Jossue earned honors including Region XV Player of the Week, Region XV All-Star, 2012 Region XV Co-Player of the Year and Region XV All-Tournament team. He was also named a SUNY Sullivan Athlete of the Year for the 2011-2012 academic year.
A native of Barinas, Venezuela, Jossue majored in Sports Management at SUNY Sullivan. He will be attending NCAA Division II Ohio Dominican University in the fall on a full athletic scholarship. He will be playing ball and pursuing a degree in Business.
