SUNY Sullivan has joined up with the organization, Extra Life, to plan a 24-hour gaming marathon in support of Upstate Golisano Children's Hospital. Team Sullivan is on a mission to help save kids through video games, and they need your help. Sponsor a gamer and your tax free donation will go directly to assist the efforts of Upstate Golisano Children's Hospital.
The Extra Life 24-Hour Gaming Marathon will begin at 7:00 am on the 20th with a gamers' breakfast. The marathon gaming session – which will also include board games and card games – will commence at 8:00 am and continue until 8:00 am on the 21st. Dinner and snacks will be provided throughout the event to keep gamers' energy and spirits high, and the marathon will wrap up with a hot breakfast.
Gamers must be SUNY Sullivan students, and will play in shifts throughout the 24-hour period. Some ambitious gamers may even attempt to play the entire 24-hour period. Gaming will take place on the campus of SUNY Sullivan in Rooms G005B, G005, G005C, and The Kaplan Student Union. Students who are properly equipped may also join the marathon from remote locations as well.
Sponsors can make a one-time gift in support of the 24-hour marathon, and monthly and planned giving options to the hospital are available. Sponsors can be anyone from inside or outside the college community willing to pledge a dollar amount to any of our gamers for a specified time period of game play.
To sponsor, visit www.Extra-Life.org and search "Team Sullivan." Each team member's name will appear in the search results. Click the player's name you would like to support, and click the "Support Me!" button. The online donation form is simple and quick to fill out.
Upstate Golisano Children's Hospital at SUNY Upstate Medical University treats thousands of children each year, regardless of the families' ability to pay. The patients are children facing anything from cancer to cystic fibrosis; treatment for traumatic injuries and more. In 2011, Extra Life raised more than $1.2 million for kids' medical causes. Their goal for 2012 is much higher, and they count on the help of compassionate, generous donors.
