Sustainability is the new green!
Join SUNY Sullivan in celebrating Campus Sustainability Day (CSD), a day to look at what campuses have accomplished, how they are maintaining efforts, and what's planned for the future when it comes to sustainability in higher education. 2012 marks the 10th anniversary of CSD and SUNY Sullivan is proud to be a college whose progressive attitude towards sustainability has been at its heart since 2002. On Wednesday, October 24, the campus will host a schedule of events highlighting the efforts of the national CSD campaign, while celebrating its own past, present, and future as a hub of sustainability education and application.
The CSD events begin at noon, when the SUNY Sullivan Eco-Fair kicks off in the DeHoyos Gallery. The college's S.E.E.D.S. club will be providing information on campus sustainability, and raising funds through the sales of water bottles, meal kits, and raffle tickets. Organizations with a focus on sustainability from around the region will be on hand to share information, samples, and other materials. Planning to attend are local farms, local restaurants, and numerous environmental nonprofits. The Eco-Fair will continue until 5:00 pm.
From 2:00 until 3:30 pm, the CSD keynote broadcast will take place in the Seelig Theater. This presentation, simulcast live, will be a presentation and panel discussion on this year's theme: Preparing Students for a Changing Climate. It will be about how colleges and universities can prepare students for a changing climate, society, and economy through sustainability education.
Following the keynote broadcast, a follow-up conversation will commence from 3:30 until 4:00 in the Seelig Theater. The conversation will focus on what SUNY Sullivan is doing in terms of sustainability, as well as what the college should do next
Attendees are encouraged to wear green to all the events to show their support of sustainability education and practice at SUNY Sullivan!
