SUNY SULLIVAN COMMUNITY LEARNING PROGRAM
OFFERING BEGINNER'S GUIDE TO CRAFT BEER & BREWING

 

Attention craft beer lovers! We know you've been excited by the brewery boom here in the Catskills and Hudson Valley, and now SUNY Sullivan Community Learning has something sensational on tap just for you! Beginning on March 15th, SUNY Sullivan is offering a 10-week course in all things beer – from brewing to bottling; sampling to selling, and beyond. You will learn from a master, and visit some of the region's best beer destinations, and it all culminates in one exciting event – tasting your own homebrew!

The course, A Beginner's Guide To Craft Beer & Brewing, is designed to be a stepping stone for anyone who thinks they might enjoy a hobby as a novice brewer, or even has aspirations of becoming a professional brewer or assuming another position within the brewing or brewpub industries.

The course begins on Saturday, March 15 and continues on consecutive Saturdays through May 17. All classes will meet at 1:00 pm on the campus of SUNY Sullivan, and participants must be at least 21 years old. Registration cost for this course, which includes all related transportation fees, is $350.

Instructor William Vernold is a graduate of the Cicerone Certified Beer Server program, and a member of the Master Brewers Association of the Americas. Mr. Vernold has worked at Butternuts Beer & Ale (Garrattsville, NY), and is currently technical advisor to Roscoe Brewing Company (Roscoe, NY). Mr. Vernold will guide participants through the ten weeks, sharing his knowledge on all aspects of craft brewing. Participants will also learn on field trips breweries and other facilities in the region.

Week 9: Gasko Meyer Beer Visit (Lake Huntington, NY)
Week 10: Review &Taste Your Brew
