Following a long period of negotiation, SUNY Sullivan's Professional Staff Association (PSA), which represents the college's faculty and support staff, has ratified a new contract. In a recent poll of its members, the PSA passed the Memorandum of Agreement with 92% of voting members in favor. This ends negotiations that have been ongoing since the last contract expired in August of 2009.
A resolution to ratify the Memorandum of Agreement by the college's Board of Trustees is on the agenda for this Thursday's board of trustees meeting. This would lead to the authorization of SUNY Sullivan president, Dr. Karin M. Hilgersom, to execute the Collective Bargaining Agreement conforming to the terms of the memorandum.
"My administration and I, along with the entire Board of Trustees, want to express how much we value all of the hard work the members of our PSA do for SUNY Sullivan," said Dr. Hilgersom. "They expertly handle every duty and challenge presented to them, and they uphold the high standard of excellence that is core to our mission. The transformative education they provide to our students, and their contributions to the college community are invaluable."
Once executed, the new contract will extend through August 31, 2016. The new contract includes pay retroactive to 2009 when the last contract expired.
