SUNY SULLIVAN HELD ITS 50TH COMMENCEMENT ON MAY 17

Nursing & Respiratory Care Graduates also recognized at Pinning Ceremony

 

Sullivan County Community College (SUNY Sullivan) held its 50th annual commencement ceremony Saturday, May 17 at 1 p.m. in the Paul Gerry Fieldhouse. 

 248 students received diplomas this year. Graduates Rachelle Walker and April White served as the class speakers.  SUNY Sullivan alumna Cathy Paty (Class of 2004) sang “The Star Spangled Banner.”

 SUNY Sullivan President Dr. Karin Hilgersom, Assemblywoman Aileen Gunther, Sullivan County Legislator Kathleen “Kitty” Vetter and SUNY Sullivan Board of Trustees Chairperson Nicholas P. Speranza also made remarks. 

 Faculty, staff and students were also recognized with SUNY Chancellor’s Awards.  Faculty and staff recognition included:

  • SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching: Dr. Marie-Christine Paupard
  • SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Faculty Service: Dr. Susan Rogers
  • SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Scholarship and Creative Activities:  Dr. Gabriel Rikard
  • SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Adjunct Teaching: Mr. Frank Petrocelli
  • SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Professional Service: Mr. Hans Bader
  • SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Classified Service: Ms. Georgia Lyons
  • SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Student Excellence: April White and Rachelle Walker 

Earlier in the morning 13 Nursing students and seven (7) Respiratory Care students received recognition during a ceremonial pinning held in the Seelig Theatre.
