Career Development and Foundation Skills

Offerings in this area are designed to better prepare individuals for success in the regional labor market. The focus is on helping you to identify a career goal and to obtain the knowledge and skills needed to begin a rewarding career.

  Licensure, Certification and CEUs

Offerings in this area help individuals meet professional/occupational requirements for licensure, certification and/or continuing education. Professions and/or occupational areas in which we offer courses include:

 Insurance – Our courses for insurance professionals include pre-licensing courses offered in collaboration with Bryant & Stratton, as well as continuing education programs offered in partnership with CAPE.

 Healthcare and Human Services – These programs prepare participants to work in the growing field of health and human services. Our offerings prepare students for entry into more advanced programs (e.g., LPN to RN Transition program); licensure or certification (e.g., Emergency Medical Technician, Medical Transcription and Coding); and/or instill new knowledge or update critical skills (e.g., medical calculations, wound care, medical documentation). We also offer a series of courses related to alternative and holistic approaches to medicine.

  Emerging Technology and Business Trends

Offerings in this area keep participants current with emerging technology or other changes impacting an occupation, profession or workplace. Current areas of concentration include:

 Business, Management and Information Technology -- Offerings in this area give you the knowledge and skills necessary to start, manage and/or advance in a for-profit or non-profit business. Courses focus on such issues as entrepreneurship, communication, supervision, customer service, employee engagement, accounting and business operations, and the application of information technology in business.

Green & Clean -- Offerings in this area prepare business and individuals to take advantage of the business and career opportunities related to green and clean technology and practices. For a business, this may mean improving the bottom line by greening operations and/or entering new markets with green products or services. For individuals, it may mean expanding their skill set to take on additional responsibilities in their current job or to prepare for a new position. Courses cover such topics as: sustainability assessment and measurement, energy efficiency, waste reduction and management, water conservation, renewable energy, electric vehicles, and environmentally preferable purchasing.
